Scope for authors
Acta Juris Criminalis will welcome work across a broad criminal law scope. The journal is particularly interested in scholarship that combines doctrinal rigour with an understanding of criminal law’s social and institutional context.
- Criminal law doctrine (刑法教义学): offences, responsibility, punishment, legal concepts, and the structure of criminal law.
- Social-science approaches (社科刑法学): empirical, criminological, sociological, and socio-legal inquiry into criminal law.
- Comparative and international criminal law: cross-jurisdictional scholarship, international criminal justice, and work that travels across legal traditions.
- Criminal justice: procedure, evidence, institutions, sentencing, and the operation of the criminal process.
- Interdisciplinary and theoretical work: criminal law in conversation with philosophy, criminology, political theory, and technology studies.
LaTeX template
Manuscripts should be prepared in LaTeX. A template is available now so that authors can begin preparing their work while the journal is in preparation.
LaTeX is a document-preparation system widely used in scholarly publishing. It separates content from layout and handles footnotes, cross-references, and references consistently. The journal’s template provides a clean two-column journal format with a full-width title block, abstract, keywords, footnotes, a table example, and references.
What the template includes
- A4 two-column journal layout with a full-width title block.
- Authors, affiliations, abstract, and keywords.
- Section headings, footnotes, lists, a table example, and a sample bibliography.
- pdfLaTeX support and automatic Chinese-language support under XeLaTeX.
Download and compile
Compile with pdflatex. For manuscripts containing Chinese, compile with
xelatex; the template loads ctex automatically. The PDF
preview shows the template with placeholder content.
New to LaTeX?
LaTeX is a document-preparation system, not a word processor: authors write plain text with light markup, and LaTeX handles the layout. It is well suited to long manuscripts with footnotes and cross-references. For a short introduction, see Learn LaTeX in 30 minutes from Overleaf. For installation and fuller documentation, see the LaTeX Project documentation.
Format policy
LaTeX is the journal’s standard manuscript format. Other formats should be used only where LaTeX is not feasible. Submission arrangements, including how exceptions are handled, will be published when available.
Editorial policy
The journal is developing its editorial policies. These will be published when available and will cover article types, manuscript preparation, anonymisation, references, and the review process.
No article category, word limit, or editorial model is currently published on this site. The journal will not present policies as settled before they are confirmed.
Peer review
The journal is developing its peer review process. The review model, timelines, and reviewer guidance will be published when available.
No review-time or acceptance-rate claim is made at this stage. Authors will be given clear information about the process when it is published.
Open access & APC
Acta Juris Criminalis will publish open access, online, with no article processing charge (APC) at present.
Articles will be available online without a subscription. The journal is an open-access journal as a whole; it is not a subscription journal with an optional open-access route. No APC is currently planned.
